Question by JenJenJen: Going to Lake Tahoe for my honeymoon in Feb. Any ideas of local or within a few travel hours of things to do?
(skiing is already on the list), and would also be up for exploring other cities nearby. We enjoy the outdoors.

take the drive around lake tahoe–i thinks its called the rim drive, its about 3-4 hours depending on how many stops you make along the way and there are plenty..dont go to any nearby towns, the closest is reno and you’re not missing much by staying away…..once you ski the resorts in tahoe you pretty much did it all, now since you say you’re willing to drive a few hours then that opens up a boatload of opportunities… i was took a roadtrip from tahoe to mammoth(about 3 hours i believe) along the way you can:
1. stop at Bodie State Park (a ghost town)–absolutely unbelievable!! the ghost town looks like the people just dropped all their stuff and walked away, which is basically what they did–and its all still there untouched
2. yosemite is along the way but the access road might be closed in winter
3.. Crabcooker hot spring in mammoth—one of the most memorable times of my life were sitting in that hot spring in the middle of the desert surrounded by 15k foot mountains— this part was the highlight of my tahoe trip, next time i go i wouldnt even care if i skipped skiing and went right to the ghost town and hot spring
