Question by John M: What is the best way to get from Sacramento airport to south Lake Tahoe?
I don’t really want to rent a car. We have 8 people in our group (4 kids) and want to leave the airport on a Saturday and return the following Saturday.

I would suggest calling Foothills Shuttle and Charter service. It’s a small business but as far as I know, the only one of its type that operates in the Sierra Nevada foothills. They might be able to help you, but considering your party is so big, that would also mean they would probably need to use both of their vans (and they only have two).

I believe they are based out of Nevada City, CA. You can call them at (530) 432-3235 or (530) 210-9085.

The owner is Dominic and he is a lovely man. Expect to pay a lot, though. I think from the Nevada City area to the Sacramento Airport is $ 219 per person, return. To / from Tahoe I imagine it will be more. Multiplied by 8 people… it sounds to me like it would be more cost efficient to simply rent a car / van yourself.

Other than that, you could try Greyhound…
