Which expressway; the I-80 or Highway 50; is easier to drive during winter to South Lake Tahoe?

Question by seanrezel: Which expressway; the I-80 or Highway 50; is easier to drive during winter to South Lake Tahoe?
I’m visiting in December from Singapore and I have not driven in snow conditions before although i have previously driven in the US. Which of the two is easier to drive in December and which has the less chance of being jammed considering i’m going on the xmas eve weekend. Cheers!

I assume since you are flying in somewhere and asking about I-80 or 50, you’re probably driving from San Fran or Sacramento.
Rent a 4×4 big suv and come up highway 50 which’ll take you below the lake to S Lake T
If you come in from I-80 you chance a road being closed that feeds SLT
If you have time, and the roads are clear, take a ride around the lake. You’ll see amazing sights. Take pictures. Especially of the bay on the west side of the lake.
